Taking Some Time to Bond

I went back to work right after Alejandro turned two months. That choice has gutted me because I felt like I missed out on bonding with him. I mean, I spent 8+ hours at work and when I got home my baby was fast asleep. So slowly we've been tweaking his schedule, so that I may spend more quality time with him. So far so good. It's been tricky, but we've been able to bond more and more as he's getting older and can stay up longer. It is always a joy to come home to my sweet smiling baby. However, I realized that I do qualify for bonding time through FMLA during his first year which means I get to spend more of the holidays with my little munchkin. It's hard leaving work, but I know it's a good choice because he'll only be this little for a little while. He is growing up sooooo fast!. For example right this moment he's going through the end of a growth spurt... and just as it shows on the chart, he's a little fussy, but he's doing so well handling those changes. Not to mention yesterday was his six month checkup in which all was good til the needles went in. Oh my goodness these were the worst thus far. He looked at me with such pain as if he felt betrayed by me for letting them do that to him. I absolutely hate shots! :( I even asked the nurse how he felt giving shots and he said he absolutely hated it. Poor guy... the doctors get all the credit and he gets to poke the kiddos :( Speaking of, according to doctor, Alejandro is growing beautifully. He's as healthy as can be and that makes me happy to hear. Next appointment will be in 3 months when lil man will be NINE months! OMG time please pause for a lil bit!

Any who, don't know if I'll be on between now and Christmas, so Merry Christmas to All! Enjoy!

Surprise Baby Shower @ Work

So yesterday, my coworkers surprised me with a babyshower at work. It was the cutest thing ever! I really, really, really wish I would've taken more pictures, but sadly I left my phone in the office and didn't want to step out to get it :/.

Any who, all were there and in good spirits, so the vibe really made me feel the love :)

The food was amazing as they did my favorite dish CEVICHE... only that without shrimp as at the moment I can't have :( The cake was also my favorite tres leches and was so cutely decorated that I didn't want to cut into it, but I had to :( lol.

Baby Alejandro got lots of goodies, including an awesome car seat that he can use from birth to elm. years. Lot's of cute baby clothes and some baby necessities, and a baby carrier which hubby and I played with last night. We also got a bunch of gift cards that we can't wait to spend :) lol

So overall, great times! :)

Back to Work

I can't believe I'm back at work. Those three weeks of winter recess flew. Boo!

I really didn't feel up to it, but have somehow been able get in there and get busy. On Monday I was so tired and sleepy. I swear, after lunch all I wanted to do was find a bed and sleep. Tuesday was much better and by Wednesday I was up for work. It hasn't been crazy busy so it's been manegable. Tomorrow I have my prenatal appointment, so I'll probably be out and then Friday should fly. I really hope the rest of my weeks (months) are as smooth as this one. Next week we have a holiday on Monday, so that'll be another short week. And we all love short work weeks :).

There's a lot that needs to be done from this point forward as we prepare to close the school year and set-up for the 2012-13 school year. Time has sure just flown by. I also need to train my assistant for my leave because we have no idea who my substitute will be. My boss is already panicking. I'm sure he'll be fine, but I'm his right and left hand, so I feel for him. Any who, we got a good six months to train her so I'm sure everything will work out just fine.

Oh, on Monday one of the teachers let us know she's preggo as well. She's about 4 months and looks so cute. She's a tiny thing! Everyone was so happy for her, as was I. It got me thinking of how badly I want to share the news... but I'm gonna wait it out until I'm past the 1st trimester.... which is closer than we think! Wow... time is FLYING!...

....and they're back

As many of you know, it was "Back to School" week for many kids here in Southern California. So for us school employees it was a very busy week. Our kids came back on Wednesday, but it sure felt like a long week. Yesterday, I literally jumped into my bed and knocked out. I was soooooooo tired! I don't know if it's just me, but this time around parents just seemed way more irrational. Many still wanting to hand feed their babies. I mean normally, we get the 1 or 2 overprotective parents, but this time.... it was a mob-full. LOL.... I'm hopeful that they get used to the routine and soon tone it down a bit. Overall, it was still a pretty good school opening...

Tiring Week...

This was the first full week of work and somehow I think I burnt out... I am tired... like really tired. At first it was the multi-vitamin, but after I stopped taking them I was still tired. Then I realized.. "hello, you're running from classroom to classroom unloading boxes of textbooks!" So yeah, I'm tired! I've been working like an ant back and fourth doing a lot of physical labor. Luckily, my friend is gonna come and help me next week. I NEED THE HELP! I have so much to do and before I know it the kids will be coming back and I'm gonna need to put on my other hats (i.e. nurse, counselor, coordinator, teacher, etc.) Yup... I'mma be busy. BTW, I'm not complaining. I love running around doing a gazillion things. I just don't like feeling blah afterwords. Besides, doing nothing does NOTHING feels like torture to me. LOL.

First Day Back to Work

Today was my first day back to work after a what seemed like a short month off. It was a real easy and smooth day with hardly any action. It was only the principal and myself, so it was quite a perfect day.

The only thing I heard today was that there seem to be more cuts coming our way. Apparently, they're planning on cutting 47 people in my position. Of course it goes by seniority, and although I have quite a few years under my belt I can easily be moved from my school since they may decide to remove my position from primary centers. That would suck sweaty balls because I love my little school. It is simply lovely. I would hate to go back to a bigger drama-filled campus. Now, this is all speculation, but it could happen. Letters are supposed to go out by the end of next week, so by Monday August 8 I will know what's going down. I'm crossing my fingers that once again I go untouched in what seems to be a corporate shake-down.

In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy what feels like "the calm before the storm." I say that because in about a month it's gonna be crazy once more with the kiddos and new parents. Yup, the beginning of the school year is always interesting :).

This is supposed to be my first day off for the summer....

but I have way too much work to do. Besides, as much as I love my coworkers I love working in solitude. Things that normally take me a week to do I can do in a day when I'm left alone. It's really weird being in a school and not having kids come into the office wanting to chat or wanting a bandaid for their boo boo. My only complaint at the moment would be that they still haven't fixed the A/C. It's been down for about a month already. :( Any who, normally I'm ecstatic to be off for the summer, but this time it's different. For one, the district is giving us two more weeks unpaid off. . .which really means a pay cut. and two, I really didn't make many plans this time. I don't know why. Just decided that this summer I'd just chill and take it day by day. Who knows how long that's gonna last because I cannot be at home doing nothing. I know this is gonna get old real quick! lol... Some things I do plan on doing are:

  • Get back on track health wise... I've been slacking it BIG TIME
  • Cook more at home
  • Get my hair cut. This thing on top of my head is lookin' nappy!
  • Get out to the beach
  • Take a hike
  • Go to the OC Fair... I love that place. Makes me feel like a kid.
  • Get down to 190... 185 would be AWESOME!
Well, I did fail to mention I am taking a weekend getaway to San Francisco. It's only gonna be a couple days and the time will mostly be spent going and coming back, but it should be fun to just get out for a bit. Oh, and on our way back we're taking the scenic route.... literally! We're doing the PCH. Can't wait!

Well, gotta go finish up work....
