Weekly Weigh-In

Turned out to be a not so busy week, however I slacked in the exercise arena.... and it showed. Last week I weighted 174.6 This week I weigh: 174.4 Loss/Gain: -2oz However, I'm not bummed. I was able to take a slight break and managed to keep my weight. I'm still feeling good about this. Luckily, I started Zumba again this week and I LOVED it! This instructor is fabulous! I also start yoga tomorrow, so I hope to regain my flexibility. Goal for next week: 172.4 (But am secretly hoping for more so that I can be in the 160's by October!)

Weekly Weigh-In

As I said earlier, it was a busy week. Not only did I have work, but I also had my own schooling. As I suspected, I didn't make it into the ASL Class, but that's okay... I'll practice at home via YouTube. I didn't really get a chance to work-out, but I did force myself to park as far as possible. Every step counts. Hehehe. Any who, after a long and grueling week the results are in:

Starting Weight: 176.8 Current Weight: 174.6 Loss/Gain: -2.2 Honestly, I have no idea how I was able to pull it off... I really thought that for sure I'd gained... I guess eating better totally makes a difference. =) BTW, today ended up being a pretty cool day so the sis and I took the niece on a nice hike up to Griffith Park. While on the hike, I realized I totally missed hiking.... I'm glad it's finally cooling down a bit.... I missed fall :) Goal for next week: 172.6

....and they're back

As many of you know, it was "Back to School" week for many kids here in Southern California. So for us school employees it was a very busy week. Our kids came back on Wednesday, but it sure felt like a long week. Yesterday, I literally jumped into my bed and knocked out. I was soooooooo tired! I don't know if it's just me, but this time around parents just seemed way more irrational. Many still wanting to hand feed their babies. I mean normally, we get the 1 or 2 overprotective parents, but this time.... it was a mob-full. LOL.... I'm hopeful that they get used to the routine and soon tone it down a bit. Overall, it was still a pretty good school opening...

Gorgeous Red Skies

Fenced
Yesterday, it was cloudy and soon after there were lightning storms throughout Los Angeles, but somehow all I could see was the beauty in the sky. There even was a beautiful rainbow above Downtown. It made me smile to see such a beautiful red sky. So of course I took out my iPhone and snapped a picture. I love the colors. :)

That's probably something I haven't mentioned earlier. I love photography. I'm not a professional, but I love it. Lately, I've been rushing around that I haven't had a chance to truly document the beauty around me.

I'm so glad fall is nearly here because I'll get to go on my hikes once more and snap away...

Have a great Labor Day y'all!

Natural Supplements for PCOS

I wish I didn't have PCOS. But I do. Normally doctors prescribe meds such as metformin, clomid, and birth control pills to "reclaim" fertility, but I've always felt it was more of a forced situation plus you're stuffing yourself with chemicals and somehow I don't believe that is going to help in the long run. I prefer a more natural way to regain my well-being. I began working out, eating healthier, and about a month ago I began supplementing my health with fish oil and a prenatal multi-vitamin.

The fish oil has completely cleared my skin and the multi-vitamin has provided me with much needed vitamins that I was otherwise not getting enough of. Something I did notice after starting fish oil was that my hair is now getting quite wavy. It's a nice side effect I guess. LOL. But other than that it's been a positive experience.

This month I'm adding Vitex to the mix. Vitex is pretty much supposed to help regulate your menstrual cycle. If you're anything like me and have PCOS you know how hard it is to achieve that. Personally, I have a period about once every six months which obviously is no bueno. Any who, I'm hopeful this little herb can help me.

I purchased my first bottle at GNC for 6 bucks. Pretty cheap for something so important I'd say.

The bottle says to take 1 capsule two or three times daily for eight to twelve weeks. Thereafter, take 1 capsule daily. I decided to go with the lower dosage and start off with two a day for this week. I will tell you that within minutes I began to get cramping. I couldn't believe how quickly it started having an effect. I took the second one with my dinner and again I got the cramps. The way this is going I think I'll be seeing positive results very soon. As for the cramps, they're not so bad.... I take it as a sign that something is working down there... Well, with that said I'm ending this post. I'll post an update if all goes according to plan.

Window Shopping

I was bored out of my mind earlier today, so I wanted to get out and do something. However, the heat was keeping me from actually being out and about. So I decided to head to the mall and just window shop. I went into my usual stores; Torrid and Lane Bryant and realized a) I no longer fit into Lane Bryant clothing and b) In a few I'll be completely out of Torrid as well. I didn't realize exactly how much smaller I was. For old times sake, I tried the smallest size in the store and it completely felt like a bag. Wow. It felt so good to realize that with the weight I also lost a lot of inches. So, I headed over to Express and Macy's and played dress up for some time. I actually fit comfortably into their clothes. How exciting, don't ya think? I didn't buy anything though, because I'm pretty much between sizes right now and didn't really see any good sales either... but I sure as hell left feeling so proud of myself :).

Weekly Weigh-In

Well, I decided to change my weekly weigh in to match the weekly weigh in over at PCOS Weight Warriors . Should be good :) Any who, this week was a hectic one. I started school, went to work, had my annual pap smear and blood work done, and visited Disneyland & CA Adventure.... busy busy I tell ya! It was actually a really good week. I got to test how I'll be having to manage my work, school, fitness, and family life. Overall, I think I did pretty good considering I hadn't been to school in almost 10 years. But that's a whole other post... lol. Weight wise, I did great :) Starting Weight: 179.2 Ending Weight: 176.8 Loss/Gain: -2.2lbs I met my goal plus some :)... yay! Feels so good!

And I almost forgot... these are the measurements... everyone noticed the loss in my abdomen... wowza...

Goal for the coming week: 174.4

Admissions Day

Today is my hubby's day off of work and I happen to be off due to "Admissions Day" at my job. Luckily, apparently everyone else had work. So we headed out to Disney and guess what?!? It was completely empty. I mean it was busy, but by Disney standards it was slowwwwww. Lucky us! We got to ride on almost all the rides a few times. Such fun times!!!! Love it!

The Dreaded Pap

I hate going to the doctor! I specifically hate going to get a pap smear done. BUT, it must be done. So yesterday during my lunch I was laying down but naked with my feet up in stirrups... Ya... Not. cute at all, but ut had to be done. It had been over three years since the last time. I was so nervous and uncomfortable, but I ended up with a nice doctor and well, she made me feel comfortable (as comfortable as one can be with a complete stranger that is). Any who, she ordered a bunch of blood work for today and I complied. I got some of the results today and Lord and be hold so far everything is coming up normal! I'm so used to having low this high that but not this time. I'm so happy. My efforts have truly transformed me inside :)
